Tourism is one of the successfully developing sectors of economy. In labor market, highly qualified managers and specialists in tourism management are in high demand.

Professional activities of graduates:

  • conducting project activities (creating a tourist product, designing tours, tour programs and etc.);
  • productive and technological activities (applying modern technologies in creation and implementation of a tour product);
  • management activities (decision making in management, communication with executive agents in tourist objects and organizations, calculation and analysis of the tourist activities costs);
  • executing service-related activities (servicing tourists in accordance with adopted standards, regulations and normative documents of the organization, management of tourist servicing, research and monitoring of tourist service market, applying innovational technologies in activities of tourism field organizations).

In educational process, geography, economics and management disciplines are covered. Besides, in-depth professional knowledge is formed in such aspects as economics, business planning and tourism-related entrepreneurship, management and marketing in tourism and regional studies.

In the educational program of Tourism” specialization, two foreign languages (English – on a mandatory basis as a first language; Japanese or Korean – by a choice of students as a second language) are to be studied mandatorily. In the duration of educational process students develop speaking skills in foreign language, as well as in-depth learning of professional vocabulary, communicative skills, including intercultural communication.

Internship takes place in enterprises of tourism industry approved by department, where students become acquainted with future jobs skills. For completing the internship, relevant training bases in travel agencies, tour desks, ticket sales agencies and tourist information centers are formed according to existing long-term partnership agreements.

In case there are vacancies in travel agencies, tour desks, ticket sales agencies and tourist information centers and if the work suits the requirements of real program, students can be employed on the contract basis. Educational practice takes place in educational organizations of the Sakhalin region where students receive primary knowledge about preschool upbringing, primary, secondary and high school education. Practice is connected with supervision of functioning of educational system, analysis of forms and methods of teaching. Teaching (pedagogical) practice in obtaining professional skills and experience is a mandatory stage of studying. It is implemented in the 8th semester. The purpose of practice is consolidation and deepening of theoretical knowledge, acquisition of practical skills in the field of pedagogical, research, cultural and educational spheres.

Pre-graduate practice is implemented to finish the qualifying work. The purpose of the practice is to complete the research related to the preparation of the final qualifying work. Students conduct an experiment, test and obtain practical results.

Bachelor’s program is presented in on-site and distance-learning educational forms. Educational process is conducted by highly qualified specialists in the field of literary and language studies (those with Ph.D. in Philology).

Bachelor graduates are ready for implementing educational programs themselves in accordance with educational standards, as well as using modern methods and technologies in education and managing the academic and research activities of students. Our graduates are successfully working in general-education schools, located in Sakhalin region.

The goal of educational program is the development of such personal characteristics of students as responsibility, tolerance, striving for self-development and enhancing their own creative potential, acquiring the culture of thinking, seeking to implement humanitarian ideals in reality, understanding of social importance of journalist’s profession, ability to make organizational decisions in standard situations and eagerness to be responsible for them, critical assessment of their own strengths and weaknesses, choosing the methods and means of development of strengths and addressing the weaknesses, and formation of universal general cultural (general scientific, social and personal, instrumental) competences.

Bachelor of Journalism Studies in Multimedia Journalism has to possess professional knowledge, abilities and skills (good grammar, communication skills, skills of using professional equipment, photographic, film and video equipment), basic and in-depth knowledge in the field of theory and history of journalism in general and broadcast journalism in particular, as well as logical, analytical thinking, ability to correlate conceptual framework of major disciplines with real facts and events in professional activities; skills of applying knowledge in professional activities and university practice when writing texts on the field of theory and practice in multimedia journalism (coursework, graduation thesis).

Considering opportunities resulting from globalization and internationalization of education, as well as the need in preparation of competitive specialists in the field of journalism, ready to be engaged in professional activities in educational system and modern society, Main Professional Educational Program for Journalism Studies Major (42.03.02) has been made in accordance with allowing a room for flexibility and individualization of educational process, an opportunity to build an individual trajectory of learning process.

Professional field of activities of Bachelor graduates includes education for those (children, teenagers, adults) with disabilities on the basis of educational, social and public health institutions.

The objects of professional activities of Bachelor graduates are remedial-developmental (educational and pedagogical) and rehabilitative processes; remedial and educational, rehabilitative, social adaptation and general education systems.

In our university, training of highly qualified speech therapists is based on scientific school of Logopedics Department in Moscow Pedagogical State University «Central mechanisms of speech ontogenesis and its deviations», creator of which is Belyakova L.I., Professor, Ph.D. in Medical Sciences. We are training speech therapists able to work with all age groups with any speech deviations. Our graduates work in kindergartens and regional schools, neurologic departments of City and Regional hospitals, Sakhalin Regional psychiatric hospital. Besides, our graduates work in regional medical psychological educational commissions.
